Ery HughesVolcanic Fluid Geochemist
Biography
Ery is a Volcanic Fluid Geochemist ist in the Volcanology Team at Te Pū Ao | GNS Science and part of the Technical Team for Volcanica, the Diamond open-access journal for all things volcano-related. For my research, I use experiments, modelling, and natural samples to understand the behaviour of magmatic volatiles. I use these techniques to investigate the influence of volatiles on eruption dynamics, how to interpret gas emission data for volcano monitoring, and model planetary-scale volatile cycling. I am also part of the GeoNet Volcano Monitoring Group, where I help collect, analyse, and interpret gas samples collected from volcanoes and geothermal systems.
