Tectonics webmap
Interactive web map
Zoom and pan around the tectonic webmap of the Te Riu-a-Māui / Zealandia (TRAMZ) region. This map is highly customisable: layers can be turned on or off, and transparency changed. Features in layers can be queried. A guide to the functionality of the webmaps is given on the help page.
Overview
The tectonic webmap displays interpretations of the types and age of crust, major faults, plate and microplate boundaries, plate motion vectors, subducting slab depths, basement geology, sedimentary basins and ancient and modern volcano locations are shown on this feature rich map. Projection is Lambert Conformal (NZCS2000).
There is a separate blank map which doesn’t have any layers pre-loaded, except a Google Maps baselayer. Data layers can be added from various sources, including Bathymetric, to customize your map. Projections are Web Mercator (the same as Google Maps).
Custom maps can be saved and/or the layout shared with other users as a permalink.
