Heat energy from the earth
Late in July a hydrothermal eruption blew rock and steam into the air at Yellowstone National Park. GNS Principal Scientist and Volcanologist, Graham Leonard, talks to Susie Ferguson about hydrothermal eruptions and how they differ to volcanic eruptions.
In their discussion Graham also explains what makes Aotearoa New Zealand unique with the Taupō Volcanic Zone and our geothermal energy potential.
This interview is part of a regular spot where we talk all things science on RNZ's Saturday Morning programme.
